During a Medicare-covered skilled nursing facility (SNF) stay, Part A covers:
A semi-private room and meals
Skilled nursing care provided by nursing staff
Therapy, including physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy
Social Services
Dietary Counseling
Medical equipment and supplies
Ambulance transportation to the nearest provider of needed services, when other modes of transportation would endanger your health.
Each benefit period, Part A covers the full cost of your first 20 days in a SNF. For days 21-100, Part A covers part of the cost and you pay a daily coinsurance. To be eligible for Medicare SNF coverage, your care must be medically necessary.

Erwin Health Care Center is here to assist when there may be extensive memory loss, limited or no mobility, difficulty swallowing, and bowel and bladder control issues. There may be a need for around-the-clock care. At this stage, the patient may have difficulty recognizing family members and caregivers.
Erwin Health Care Center Social Services department will assess the needs of their clients and family members and will create action plans to deliver resources to them. They work with each client to determine the scope of the problem. These workers provide advice and resources to help their clients to overcome difficulties. Sometimes, they need to liaise with other social service agencies in order to best serve the needs of persons.
